The Tazareh region is situated in the cold and mountainous landscape south of the Alborz Mountain range. This area has an average elevation of 2,200 meters and is characterized by its cold climate, sparse vegetation, and limited human and energy resources. Covering an area of 34 square kilometers, Tazareh forms part of the southern slope of the Alborz Mountain range, located 70 kilometers northwest of Shahrood city, along the Shahrood-Tehran main road.
The region encompasses four principal mines: Kelariz, Mader Complex, Bornaki, and Razmja, in addition to several private mining operations. Mining activities in this area commenced with exploration efforts in the vicinity of the Madar tunnel in 1348. Coal extraction in the complex began in 1352 with the operation of the Madar tunnel and continues to this day.
The Razmja coal mine is situated in Semnan province, 25 kilometers from Damghan city, 75 kilometers from Shahrood city, and 35 kilometers from the Tehran-Mashhad main road.
